Translation process description:
A translation in the selected language combination will be done by a native speaker of target language. One of the important requirements for translator selection is translator's experience in the subject field of translation. Translation will be estimated by native speaking proofreader of target language according to quality control procedures. In case if the quality control shows a necessity of proofreading, it will be done by another native speaking linguist with knowledge of the subject field. Before final delivery, the translation passes through quality assurance procedures. A translation in the selected language combination will be done by a professional translator of target language. However, there is no available native speaking translators for the selected languages. To maintain high level of quality the translation will be proofread by native speaking proofreader of the target language having experience in the subject field of translation obligatory. Before final delivery, the translation passes through quality assurance procedures. There is no possibility to arrange direct translation from the selected source language into target language. That is why the translation process is divided into two phases. The first phase is translation from source language into an intermediate language. The translator will be qualified native speaking translator of the intermediate language having knowledge and experience in the subject field of translation. To maintain high level of quality the translation will be proofread by native speaking proofreader of the intermediate language obligatory. After obligatory proofreading the text in intermediate language is handed over to the native speaking translator of selected target language. Phase 2 ends with obligatory proofreading by native speaking proofreader of target language having experience in the subject field of translation. Before final delivery, the translation passes through quality assurance procedures.

Proofreading

Proofreading is an integral part of Freelanguage translation process for all projects.

However, proofreading is sometimes required by our customers as a separate service. Proofreading might be needed where a translation has already been carried out but needs a quality check and correction by a professional native speaker to eliminate aggravating mistakes and drawbacks. The option of having your initial translation proofread is a cost-effective solution designed to improve quality without re-translating the original documents.

The initial translation will be carefully checked and compared against the original to take into account fine details and omissions. The aim of proofreading is to reach a sufficient level of authenticity.

By the way this service is not only suited to situations where the initial translation is of poor quality. Very often important documents and materials need additional quality checks even when they have been translated properly. Here the purpose of proofreading is to make texts read naturally to native speakers. One might speak a language perfectly, but a native speaker speaks it better.

Every proofreading project starts with a preliminary estimate. During Freelanguage working hours you will receive your estimate no longer than half an hour after we have received the initial enquiry. All enquiries received during non-working hours will be processed in the first 90 minutes of the next business day.

The estimate can only be final and accurate if we have been sent the materials for translation, as the speed and cost of translation may differ depending on the target language, the customer's requirements, the format of the originals and the subject field of translation.

The volume of text is calculated in words. The cost of proofreading is calculated using the rate per word. The rate for proofreading usually equals 50% of the corresponding language combination rate for translation.

The speed and hourly volume of proofreading vary from language to language. On average, the normal daily volume of one proofreading project is 4,000 words per day. The maximum daily volume of words for proofreading within the framework of one project is 20,000 words per day.

The project cost is always calculated based on the actual word count.

Freelanguage confidentiality and non-disclosure policy requires the deletion of all the materials sent for costing in the case that the customer has rejected the offer or in the case that we have not received a reply in the 24 hours following the provision of the estimate/offer to the customer.

We are proud that attention to detail is one of the specialities of Freelanguage!
